Since so many pundits in the vast wasteland that is television, do not know (or care) to pronounced “Nevada” correctly, I shall illuminate them.
“Nev-a-da” should be uttered with the first “a” sounding much like the “a” in “cat”, not like the “o” in “cot”.
I heard one talking head say that Nevadans cringe as if they just heard fingernails on a chalkboard (an interesting phenomenon in itself), and he is correct.
So, please, America, show us a little respect (even if we don’t deserve it, having given you Harry Reid, and all).
